If you want to have a good experience of everyday work with linux, you have to install your graphics card's driver to be able to use it at highest rate. For people using Nvidia cards, including myself, you have to follow these steps...

First of all you have to install the kernel sources, in Debian-like systems which use apt package management, issue this (you need the sources repository):
apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)

this automatically extracts your kernel's version and installs the needed package for your kernel. :) Neat!

OK, now you need these stuff too:
apt-get install binutils make

these are necessary for building the kernel module of the video driver.

Now, you are ready to acquire the driver itself. Look for it here. Get the proper driver.

Now, shut down the X environment, give this file execute permission and execute it:
./path/to/file/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.53-pkg2.run

This was what my file was. Now you are shown a menu, follow the steps and you should get it installed. At last it asks you to choose whether to add proper options to the xorg.conf file or not. Choose yes and you're done!

Go and enjoy the power! :D
