Creating Voice recognition macros in XML no variables?

Posted 24 February 2010 - 12:50 PM

so i havea program lets me create voice recognition macros in XML now this is all fine and dandy but im trying to give my computer a bit of personality:

eg:
hello computer
hello
hello computer
you already said hello
hello computer
whats wrong with you???

but i read that xml doesnt have variables that can have thier values changed...

so the general setup of this code works like this
<speakscript>
<command>
<listenFor>command word</listenFor>
</command>
</speakscript>

now ive tried adding in

and defining variables that way but they dont carry over from command to command, and it wont let me define them globally... how can I have a sort of global variable??
