I've seen this reputation system instituted in other forums, and if you give it time it does seem to work. The mods are going to be taxed for awhile at the start though until the system starts to catch on. I almost want to recommend that the reputation system be disabled in the Lounge though, as very few helpful post are often made there.

On side note (which should likely be in pm): Do you have a time-line for when you are going to finish the (upgrades?)? The right justified menu is very odd...

I'll say it again... yes, some of the rules are subjective, and yes, some are almost unenforceable. The rules are there to outline how the system should be used, and allow us to punish people that are obviously abusing it for any of the reasons listed. Just because a rule isn't easily enforced, doesn't mean it shouldn't exist because if it didn't, we would be able to punish people for it when/if we DO discover it.

We will work on automated methods to detect the most obvious abuses, and rely on members to report other abuses.

Maybe the reputation option should be disabled for the "Heated Topics" and the "Caffeine Lounge" threads? Just as how posts in the game thread don't count.

Being the perpetual Lounge lizard that I am, I would have to say I think the system is working beautifully in the Lounge since the limits were imposed... there is no one receiving hundreds of down-votes for one post, there is no one running through threads up-voting the people they like for posts like "lol" and emoticons.

But for all those hyper-concerned with rep in the Lounge, I think a little common sense will go a long way. If you're posting something obviously inflammatory, expect to be down-voted. If you don't want the down-votes, don't post the inflammatory comment.

It's really quite simple: We all must deal with the consequences of our actions.

This is the sort of mentality that "no child left behind" will create. Believe it or not some people are just meant to fail. Unfortunately (for them), they were raised to believe that the bar will always be lowered to their standard, like some sort of lowest common denominator.

just so everyone knows, the only reasons I will be downvoting is if it violates forum rules (or standards - such as double posts) or talks badly about sophia bush. you should all follow my example and the world will be right.

Sophia Bush? really? Well there are a number of things I could say about her but I'll use the power of silence and refrain from typing them here. Give it time I suppose, if it fails skyhawk will probably take it out in the next site upgrade.
