creating a cold fusion based FTP server

Post icon  Posted 20 April 2006 - 03:29 PM

I have been given the opportunity to work for and sell office solution applications to my current employer, and I am in the process of moving the entire web site to coldfusion (the process is nearing completion :music: ). The only issue about this system is the fact that I will be using an ftp server application developed by someone else. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with using another company's software with your own, but since I AM developing the entire service shouldn't I finish the job with an ftp server if possible?

I may be in the clouds

plz let me know soon...I plan to make the move to coldfusion sometime next week

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Sorry to ask for clarification, and keep in mind that I have only ever dabbled with coldfusion, but are you trying to connect to an FTP server with coldfusion (very possible), design FTP software (client and server, presumably) in coldfusion, or run an entire server (hardware et all) using coldfusion scripts?

I'm not sure that that FTP server software can be completely emulated or created in a scripting language...but there are various facets of coldfusion....are you talking about the web development language, or the data communication aspect of CF (I'm really not familiar with that - but it may be able to do it).

Skyhawk and sloth are quite familiar with the language...they may be better able to answer your question than I.

Maybe houseoffusion.com would have an answer...
