I've seen Rush many times...every tour from Signals tour to Presto I think, and the Test for Echo tour. Always a great show...even the wife liked it. We were at the show on the Different Stages Live CD where "2112" and "Leave That Thing Alone" were recorded actually.

I saw Rush's Presto tour, it was quite good.
For live performances, the closer you are to the action, the better. A few years ago I saw the Allman Brothers at the Beacon; I was standing on the stage. They're a great jam band. I could barely stand by the end of the show. I think I still have Butch's drumb sticks from that show.

I remember that show pretty well, with the inflatable rabbits popping out of the hats on either side of the stage. Took my sister's new husband there as his first concert. Remember laughing at Alex Lifeson playing a keyboard part on the song "Superconductor" with his nose. Which is somewhat ironic, given the size of his cohort's honker!

carltech, I'll see your Marcus Miller and and John Entwistle and raise you Vic Wooten
EDIT: Oh, and *my* best live performance ever was probably in a UMass Amherst hotel room more than half a lifetime ago. Who the hell needs food and sleep when you're young and lusty?

my fav show ive been to was at the town ballroom in buffalo. it was:
hellogoodbye(opened, they were alright but they ended their set with a guy dancing on stage in a hot dog costume)
acceptance(quite possibly the best live vocals ive ever heard in my life. incredible)
gatsbys american dream(my fav band of all time. ownd)
panic at the disco(make fun of them if you want but they are fucking good as hell live. this was a few years ago be4 they hit mainstream so it was all songs from their first cd and when they "half" broke up or whatever)
