board editor bug

Posted 01 March 2010 - 09:43 AM

It seems that the board's editor is replacing the char sequence 'b' ')' with 'B' ')'. This may be a good feature when you want to post a smiley, but it corrupts posted code.

When we type a lowercase 'b' followed immediately by a ')' we get the same smiley that is produced by an uppercase 'B' followed by ')': B)

If that lowercase 'b' followed by ')' occurs inside code tags it becomes an uppercase 'B' followed by ')':

And if you test this with Preview Post, you can see that the 'b' has also been changed to 'B' in the edit window.

There are some case issues in a security module and it's resolved in the upcoming release of the forum software.

As a note, at the bottom of the post screen is a "post options" that you can expand and disable parsing of emoticons for that post which will prevent that sort of thing from happening.
