I'm curious as well if there is a widely accepted convention for naming fields. I often times go with an abbreviated table name, then the name of the field. For instance:

Table: Categories
Fields: cat_id, cat_name, cat_parent, etc....

more specifically say for instance you had a tblCustomers

you would have DataType Autonumber (Primary Key)
field name would be lngCustID

DataType Text for field name strUsername

DataType Number for field name intPhone

I guess this is acceptable ?

Absta, there is a company called Superior Software for windows in Australia (Adam Cogan is the CEO/Owner - he is a MVP and is very knowledgeable) that has a whole heap of rules that they use internally.

their web site is:
www.ssw.com.au

Regards

Ross
