php reference needed :)

Posted 04 March 2010 - 05:10 AM

Can someone recommend me a good book for php references (book or ebook)? Sorta like this one in w3schools.com (http://www.w3schools.com/php/php_ref_array.asp).

btw, i am a beginner. I am now trying to make simple programs etc in php sitting in the back bench in my college where i cant open up my laptop and search in google incase i have some doubts, or if i have to read some new php functions.etc. I dont want to read a traditional book which explains things starting from 'A' but something like a php dictionary where i can read random php functions etc and get familiar with them.

Thanks in advance :D

PHP and MySQL Web Development All-in-one Desk Reference for Dummies

An excellent read, and I have found it to be an excellent book for quickly checking the odd bit of syntax or something similar.

This covers everything you will need as a beginner.

The only problem I have with it is her use of arrays in outputting HTML, I don't like that method, and I also believe it confuses beginners. But there isn't a huge amount of HTML in the book.

These may also prove useful:
