Ultra Easy Question about C

Posted 08 March 2010 - 10:59 AM

hey guys...today in my calculus class, we learned how to use maple 10. We were differentiating equations (i.e. y = cosx ---> y' = -sinx). I just wanted to know if there was a function in c that will differentiate a user input equation. For example, if I typed in cos(x), the program would return -sin(x) or if typed 3*x*x (3x^2), it would return 6*x (or 6x). Note, this is not a homework assignment...I'm just curious.

This is just a simple yes or no question. All i want to know is if there is a function that will automatically differentiate (using math.h or some other library).

No, not in the standard library. You would have to find a custom library or write your own.
