along working with css we are using leftcoloumn and rightcoloumn with set of values.please explain the exact functionality for this one.

Not sure what your trying to accomplish. Is there just two columns? are they sidebars next to a main column.. Please give more info and/or som code where you tried. Best will be to read up on the basics of CSS by searching it on google or reading a Introduction.
