Windows Phone 7 was actively discussed at MIX10 during the keynote today. But here comes another announcement that could interest some developers - today, the CTP (Community Technology Preview) build of Windows Phone Developer Tools was released.

What is included with it?

• Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone CTP
  
• Windows Phone Emulator CTP
  
• Silverlight for Windows Phone CTP
  
• XNA 4.0 Game Studio CTP

nice. it requires vista or windows 7....doesnt work with XP. Not a huge deal but I certainly didnt see that was going to be a requirement but im not surprised. Ill have to try this out at home.

It looks really cool, I just wish I didn't have to wait till fall to get a phone... I need a new phone now. I'm looking at Android but this is making me think it might be worth waiting.

windows phone 7 series comes out holiday this year. Not to mention a bunch of other models and carriers for that fact. if you can wait, you probably wont regret it


Just to mention about emulator, it is there so you can develop for the win7 phone without ever purchasing the phone, as well as it will simulate what the screen will look like. Its a good tool if you plan on making Silverlight/XNA applications

I have been playing with this A LOT, and I must say I love it and i am pumped for a win7 mobile phone to come out for me to work on.

Oh c'mon I hate requirements like this... I personally still use XP and can´t use the WPD-Tools :-/
