WEAR YOUR GODDAMN SEATBELTS!

Last week while I was waxing my blinged out ghetto sled, tones drop for a quadrupal ejection accident with extrication. I peel out throwing gravel on my freshly waxed ride and rollup on the bloodiest mess I have had the recent privledge of cleaning up. 3 people tossed along the side of the road with another pinned under the rolled minivan.

Litterally everything went perfect dispatch wise, Sufficant trucks were there rescue squad plenty of people available for the treatment of the pateients and the extrication, a chopper on the ground and still we couldent save the life of the person pinned under the van. Saved 4 lost 1 all in all a pretty good wreck considering the only one belted in was the 1 yr old infant. The baby was fine no injury what so ever, the adults on the other hand will live if you call wheelchairs and amputations living...

I never understood why seat belts were such a big deal to people. It takes half a second to do and you don't even notice it later on.

But seriously what does come out of a vehicle when it gets screwd up like that gets put back in. While we work on getting the people out the tow truck guys are usually sweeping up vehicle contents broken glass and other misc contents that get strewn on the road. after all the people get taken care of all the parts we cut off get placed back in and the contents that were shoveled up get dumped back in the passanger compartment.

Oh and i value my freedom and stealing from those in need isnt cool

I agree. I've seen more than my fair share of accidents and yet I still have a problem with wearing a seat belt everywhere I go. I'll admit its stupid of me and I've seen them save more peoples lives than those that weren't wearing one.

My kids complain about being forced to wear their seatbelts for the two-block drive to daycare.

Agree 100%...too bad the wife won't listen.

I survived a highway speed accident some 17 years ago as an unbelted front seat passenger in a bench set car. We were in the left lane when the right rear tire blew and my best friend lost control and we went sideways into the ravine-like grass median. When we were about perpendicular to the highway we hit an emergency vehicle turn-around and bounced over it, at which point I flew forward into the rear-view mirror, ripping it from the windshield. When the car came to rest at the bottom of the median I was in my best friend's lap.

I suffered the only injury, and I didn't even know until one of my other friends took notice: hitting the mirror drove my glasses into the bridge of my nose and cut me, but not even badly enough to even seek immediate medical attention, and with minimal blood loss.

That was my wake-up call...I was lucky enough to hit that mirror and not head out the windshield...

I've been in a handful of accidents. Once rear ended with enough force to push the car off the road, bend the car, and blow up the full sized spare tire in the trunk. Every time, from minor to major, I've always been grateful to the seatbelt.

I've occasionally confronted people who, for whatever irrational reason, don't wear a seatbelt. Sometimes they have inane stories of someone who was lucky enough to be thrown clear because of their stupidity and maintain the deranged belief that they could be one of those people. Most of the time it's the bravery of the untried; they've never experienced an accident.

The ignorant sometimes believe that they'll be able to brace for impact. Suicidal stupidity. When hit by a car, you don't generally understand what's going on until the car stops. Even if you're driving, you're madly trying to compensate before "WTF" even runs through your mind. Car accidents happen fast. Too fast for any human to stop from getting up close and personal with rest of the vehicle.

seat belts make people feel safer and therefore drive 5-10% faster than if they were not wearing a seatbelt. soo.... i hope no one else wears a seatbelt so they drive slower
