Fortran compiler

Posted 30 March 2010 - 08:21 AM

Hi all!

there is something i'd like to ask you:

I use fortran a lot, in fact it is the language i use the most. Anyway, I use Compaq Developper Studio, but recently i've acquired a macbookpro, the problem that I have not found a fortran compiler suitable for me (I dont want to anything related with unix XD). So the question: Is there any compiler, similar to Developper Studio, for Mac?

Now I'm using Parallel Desktop with Windows XP.

I downloaded Xcode and tried to install Intel fortran on it, but it is not working actually, so...

Help please ^^

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Fortran is ancient. Use a more recent language.

I agree with this, but I assume you have to use it for work or something. I can't help you with your question, but you might want to check out Fortress, which is probably the logical successor to Fortran. Unrelated, but still might be relevant to your interests.

Thanks Raynes, I'll have a look.

Fortran can be ancient, but is still the easiest and fastest solution for somebody who is not a coder. In the USA many engineering schools use Fortran so....

I've registered in the project fortress web. Thanks Raynes!

I have been thinking about learning C, it has been a while since i started using fortran and i've done some serious projects, so I'm not a noob at progamming and i though it would be easy for me to learn C. But now I'll take a look to fortress... it seems to be the kind of language I need.
