China and its cyber army

Posted 30 March 2010 - 09:20 PM

Why is china able to attack the US citizens, companies and foreign nationals and get away from it? The computer systems that are owned by US citizens and companies should be considered just as sovereign as the soil that they are on, with the exception of legitimate access. Why hasn't the US fought back against china?

Oh we have, but in more subtle ways! We've been putting a fair amount of lead into their toys thus poisoning the generation of children (or three) that will soon inherit the country! Oh.. wait... did I get that backwards?

I'm lost. Is there a particular news story you're referencing, or do you have some examples?

I am referencing the fact that there have been about three or four cyber attacks on US companies in the last six months. What I am suggesting is that the US and its cyber-army fire a warning shot at the Chinese. Bumping a state website offline for about an hour ought to do it.

yeah dude its much more than 3 or 4.
one group took on like 25% of the fortune 500 companies or something a few months ago. most attacks were repelled but a few got through at high profile corps.

its the internet. its like the wild west, just with more porn.

Who said it was the Chinese government that made these attacks? I've only read about activists groups making such attacks. Anyway, when has retaliation ever worked out for the best?

There was that time that the United States broke away from Britten became it's own country & all. That seemed to work out alright.
