How to reduce the range of Class 3 bluetooth devices

Hi,..
Currently am using class 3 bluetooth device and i want to reduce the range somehow.As i came to know that range depends om Class and Power .So by changing the class we can achieve this.But how to assign new class address and how to read it, is a question.Since each device will be having the Device class address.Pls provide me some APIor what all libraries available to find out this.

Could you be more specific... Not everyone is dealing with bluetooth devices on a daily basis, so it's hard to say what exactly is that you need. Do you have any showcase or example? Is this related only to code or does it have anything to do with hardware? If you provide more info, I'm sure you'll get a better response.
