Am I dense, or is this normal...?

So, I'm new to programming and I'm working my way down through a book. I've gotten to a Selection Sort exercise; I know this is a pretty common C++ exercise.
It is kicking my ass. Should I be able to understand this easier? Is this a sign I might be a bit too dense to learn to program effectively?
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to compare every number in the array to each other in order to find out the smallest number, or even if that is the right approach, and even if I
did, I don't think I could swap array[i] with array[p].
If it's normal to have a bit of a headache with this, please let me know, or if you just have something constructive, or a pointer in the right direction.
PS. If I come back and someone has posted the completed code for selection sort, I will find you.

and here is wrong:
for (int i = 0; i < 11; ++i) { cout << n[i] << ", "; }
>you entering 11 number in here.only loop when i <10 :
for (int i = 0; i < 10; ++i) { cout << "[" << i << "] = "; cin >> n[i]; }
and sort function should be like this:

Again, just a joke, but it was me letting everyone know that I don't want it to be given to me.

i < 9 in the first loop and i < 10 in the nested loop.
It seems like it should be reversed, at least in my mind, but I know it doesn't quite work out that way, haha.

and it works fine, but again, I just don't understand why the first 'for loop' has i<9 and not i<10 as its qualifier (I don't know if that's the correct terminology)

Say the following are entered into the array:
[0] = 12
[1] = 16
[2] = 13
[3] = 4
I understand that 12 and 13 won't be swapped, and I've worked it out on paper, it makes sense.
Then 16 and 13 are swapped, cool, I get that too. Written on paper still makes sense.
Then 16 and 4 are swapped giving...
[0] = 12
[1] = 13
[2] = 4
[3] = 16
When is 4 compared to what is in [0] and [1]? I don't see where in the code it goes back to check if [2] is less than what is in [1] or [0]
Please, if someone could dumb this down for me... I just can't seem to get it. Again, I know the code works, I just don't know why...

I can't seem to come to this conclusion by myself. The closest I've come is a program that will organize numbers as long as the numbers that need to be swapped are only one space away from where they need to be. For example...
[0] = 12
[1] = 11
[2] = 27
[3] = 9
[4] = 8
Would then organize into:
[0] = 11
[1] = 12
[2] = 9
[3] = 27
[4] = 8
But that is the closest I can get. I can't seem to get each position later in the array to compare to previously sorted data.
I'm sorry if I'm over complicating this, but I just really want to grasp what is happening before I move on.

Example:I have a array a: 0 2 4 5 1 7 2 8 1 5 .that’s contain 10 element of integer.
+Loop with i=0: min_index=i=0;
+loop from j=i+1= 1 to j< 10 to find smallest number in n[i+1] n[9];
+swap n[i] and n[min_index] to put smallest number into array:
because n[0]=0 is smallest.
Result of loop: 0 2 4 5 1 7 2 8 1 5 .
+Loop with i=1: min_index=i=1;
+loop from j=i+1= 2 to j< 10 to find smallest number in n[i+1] n[9];
+swap n[i] and n[min_index] to put smallest number into array.
because n[8]=1 is smallest in n[i+1] n[9];
Result of loop: 0 1 4 5 1 7 2 8 2 5 .
+Loop with i=2: min_index=i=2;
+loop from j=i+1= 3 to j< 10 to find smallest number in n[i+1] n[9];

God, I was making that more complicated than it needed to be.
Thank you for the help!
On a side note, the course I'm taking is from Game Institute, www.gameinstitute.com Anyone have feedback on them? I've only gotten to chapter three of module 1 in c++, but so far it seems solid. I like how they give examples of how each exercise could be applied to the gaming world/ business world.
