Idk if it would come in handy, but I wrote one on number systems. Might help with decimal to hex color conversions or something kinky like that.

And a brand new (cute) Snipet on SwingTimer to do repaint()
with a Slider to change the refreshRate
http://www.dreaminco...snippet5506.htm

P.S.
and the repaint is done in paintComponent() :D

You write "cute" snippets? I didn't know code could be kawaii.

If you have a question Open your own thread there

do not ask your question in the middle of an already existing thread

Re: Java Game Programming Thread

Hey guys, I'm a Java beginner, I have about 5-6 months experience through college. We started out with simple command-line programs, working with different data-types, objects and such and recently got into the more complicated stuff such as inheritance and GUI applications. The kind of stuff I'm doing now is fun, but I imagine game programming would be even more-so. Having said that, does anybody know of any good material I can get my hands on for those who already know the basics of Java, but have 0 experience with actual game programming? I've looked on Amazon, and there are a few books that I've had my eyes on, however, they're all very old. I would be interested in some introductory book that was published not too long ago, if anybody had anything in mind it would be greatly appreciated!

AS far as a book resource, I suggest :
http://fivedots.coe.psu.ac.th/~ad/jg/

It may be older (2005), but it might be worth your time to check out a few pages on Amazon and look at customer reviews.

That was actually one of the very same books that I was looking at earlier. I'll definietly look into it further, thank you for the suggestion.
