I heard people say that it's not a good book and the coding is awful and wrong.. Then others say its fun and exciting and doesn't bore you out so what is the truth?

Both? Neither? Depending on the version sure.. there may be errors.. that tends to happen now and then. How about just previewing a few chapters on amazon and judging if it's right for you?

Yeah i guess i will need to dig around more and see what's what - or just download an eBook of it.

You mean just buy it and then download the ebook? I would probably keep with the plan of investigating first and then purchasing the ebook.. but then that's just me.

I don't see how this is Advanced Discussion, but I would suggest three good books I've used.

Head First C#
Beginning C# 2008 Objects: From Concept to Code
Rob Miles C# Yellow Book, which can be downloaded from his official site, as .pdf format, http://www.csharpcourse.com/

Right now I have a Wrox 'Beginning C# 2005' book but it sometimes is hard tof ollow. I started to look at OReilly's 'Programming C# 3.0 5th Edition' and it seems a bit nicer and more up to date (using a newer version of .NET). What book would you guys recommend? I want one that might go from beginner to starting intermediate for right now. Would buying the OReilly book be good or is another recommended?

It is better you find websites than books , because websites are updated frequently and its fully free. find the following wesite for beginners.

By "fully free" do you mean "free-as-in-free-beer" or "free-as-in-free-speech"? Personally, I don't consider software or sites which are ad-funded to be gratis because somebody somewhere is making money off of my using the software or visiting the site. If it were truly altruistically free of charge with no strings attached why have the ads?

C# yellow book
We give away a free printed copy to students when they arrive in the department, and we also give a copy away to anyone who comes to see us on an Open Day. This is the 2012 version of the book, which now has yellow flowers on the cover. I'll find something else yellow for next year. Perhaps a duck.

If you want to print out copies for use in class teaching then that is fine by me, as long as:

The printed copies are sold at cost price.
They have a matching cover (Yellow, Blue or Orange)
