Professional is available through both DreamSpark, MSDN AA, and MSDN AA ELMS. MSDN AA also contains Ultimate, TFS, Lab Mgmt, and Remote Debugger. These are available through the administrator of your MSDN AA Account.

Here's a few articles about how to access in MSDN AA & DreamSpark:
Visual Studio 2010 RTM and .NET 4.0 now available through DreamSpark, MSDN, MSDN AA, and TechNet

and how to make it available from MSDN AA to ELMS:
MSDN AA Admins Enable Visual Studio 2010 Downloads from ELMS

Cheers, Hilary

Darn, they changed the verification process so i can't just scan up my student ID card and email it to their computer. Now i need to get a teacher to sign up, but i'm not actually *in* compsci classes so i have no teacher, and she hates me for other reasons :(. Oh well, have to just use express. One issue: I read that all the cool new debugging features that are in Pro aren't included in express. Is this true?

At least express still has support for most of C++0x. I kept my disc and key for '08 so i'll just do without the new stuff. You know, never knew you needed it until you see it in an ad and can't get it :P

Yes, this is true. IntelliTrace is only available in Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate.

Did you try dreamspark? That might be an easier process if the local MSDN AA route is giving you trouble :)

Hopefully my school will apply for DreamSpark at some point. For now, I guess I'm stuck with Express :)

On a side note, if anyone here is like me with wanting to back up their product keys elsewhere; The key is stored in a file on the disk in the directory of

Disk/Setup/setup.sdb

Under the "Product Key" key.

Since it's pre-pidded the only reason I can think of for someone to do this is to share the key with someone else so they don't have to buy it :)

I was using dreamspark. They used to have a partner that would allow you to scan a student ID card and a little bit of personal information for verification (if you were smart about it you didn't even have to put in a valid mailing address :P), and they'd authenticate it and give you a pass code in like 2 weeks that will allow you to activate a dreamspark account. But they need verification each year and this option is no longer available (now it's more like the Autodesk Student Community as far as verification goes). You get your teacher to get a dreamspark account with his/her email and they send you a verification code. But i have no CS teacher :(

I have a friend who has a MSDN AA code through his teach though. Maybe i can talk him into giving me his verify code :D

I think it's great that M$ gives out all this stuff to education. Certainly gives the F/LOSS evangelists reason to have nightmares :P

I am not sure why people are saying they downloaded a .img as I used DreamSpark and downloaded an ISO! Installing now, just a shame it was not ultimate (but hey, we can't have it all can we?!).

COKEDUDE I've used VS 2010 since Beta 1 and never really noticed a lot of bugs, and noticed none in the Release Candidate so I'm not sure what you're referring to. As far as the retail version I have ran into no bugs
