Crystal Reports 4.6.1 vs. Crystal Reports 8.5

Posted 26 June 2006 - 03:49 AM

Hey Guys,

I've been struggling with this one quite a while.

This is the VB6 code for Crystal Reports 4.6.1

		With crptInvestmentMaturity
			.ReportFileName = App.Path & "\investmentsmaturity.rpt"
			.DataFiles(0) = App.Path & "\IPM-DB.mdb"
			.Destination = crptToWindow
			.SelectionFormula = strSelectionFormula
			.PrintReport
		End With

What code should I use for Crystal Reports 8.5?

Please help!

PS: Is there any other reporting utilities, like Crystal Reports, that I can use with VB6?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

What errors do you get with that code? Exactly?

The code I submitted does not give any errors with Crystal Reports 4.6.1.

I don't even use that code with Crystal Reports 8.5

The code I'm supposed to use with Crystal Reports 8.5 is something like this (I think)

Dim Report As New CRAXDRT.Report
Dim Appl As New CRAXDRT.Application

And then I use the Report and Appl variables to set the ReportSource and DataSource properties etc.

The problem now is that CRAXDRT is not available to use. I tried to add the CRAXDRT.DLL but VB6 says that it could not be loaded and that it is not a valid ActiveX control blah blah blah...

I just don't get it. I've read tonnes of tutorials and forums and I just can't seem to find a solution. What do you guys use to create/view/generate reports? I'll try anything! It's been a month and I'm still stuck at this obstacle.

I attached a screenshot of when I tried to add the CRAXDRT.DLL. Please note that it recognises the file and what it's for. But, for some reason it just doesn't wanna load it.

If you do not have the "Developer Version" of crystal reports, you don't get the craxdrt.dll. I made that mistake and drove myself crazy. If you do have the crystal developer, VB should find the crxdrt.dll if it is registered in the registry correctly.
