I wouldn't doubt if there are ten! Those are just the 4 that came to mind as I was thinking about a recent topic by yet another first time poster who either hadn't read or ignored the rules.

But isn't reading peoples stupid attempts at writing code (and then wondering why its buggy) entertaining? If it wasn't for people ignoring these rules then there would be no forums or internet as we know it today.

We're here to help members with their coding problems, rather than dealing with "give me the codez" or "I'm a l33t h4x0r." The rules are there for a reason, as most of them are intended to make it easier on us to help others.

How is: "Please send me code" a good read? Topics don't get closed for stupid attempts at writing code. They get closed for making no attempt to write code.

i can vouch for this stupid code writing not being closed. i've done it before during my four month programming class. i just started working in it in February this year, and was let out of it in late May, almost June. and one of my earliest attempts at using Java for writing an applet to read how many vowels were in whatever string the user input, i posted into the Java forum several months ago, and i was helped to the best of the good peoples abilities' here as was possible. My code was sooo out of wack... i really had no idea what the flip i was doing for many hours. i finally just gave up on it cause i couldn't turn it in to the class and worked on something else. lol it was bad, but i was trying and that's all that matters. if you follow the rules and show you're trying, you'll get helped here. :D it's very nice and extremely appreciated by new programmers like myself that really have no idea what they're doing yet. I mean the largest program i've made so far was a 5 file little Pong applet, but that was completely thanks to this website's tutorial section and good people that will help if you are trying. :D

on a side note, yes i do believe this should be everywhere. cause evidently the rules that appear in every post and every reply aren't visible enough. lol
