How to view .exe source code?

Posted 24 April 2010 - 12:35 PM

I have downloaded this little software called Hydra.exe for FTP. However it contains Hacktool.win32.Hydra.g as detected by my Kaspersky Internet Security. Now my idea is to view the source code of the specific file called Hydra.exe to fix the problem. How can i do that? is there any software to view the source code?

No, you cannot legally view the source code of a file. If an antivirus application tells you there is malware in the executable, chances are there is. My advice - don't get those kind of files, and by that I mean - don't download files from untrusted sources.

It lists Hydra as a hack tool, because if a malicious software installed it they could crack the passwords on a local FTP server. It's useful to check your own password strength, just like John. I'd suggest that this post be closed though since we don't condone cracking and this has the potential to turn into a conversation about such. The source code to hydra is online, Google for it.
