Transparent Text

Posted 23 July 2006 - 11:29 AM

I haven't been on here in a very long while, but I haven't needed help in a while. I should start frequenting DIC again... Anywho, I really am quite perplexed on this one.

So I'm trying to make some text transparent, but I can't find the colour code for the background and I was wondering if it is possible to write transparent text. If so, could I have the code. If not, could someone find the code for this colour please:

Thanks a lot in advance

Edit: Also, how the heck do you write a square root sign? I've been trying for two hours and it just keeps disappearing...

Square root is √ or √

first one is & # 8730;
get rid of the spaces between the ampersand and the pound sign, and the pound sign and the number.

As for the colour, sorry...I'm not on a machine with any app that could color sample it...

For the transparent text, are you using CSS?

The image is #2288ED.

For IE transparency check out this topic and for Mozilla and some other browsers it's simply opacity:0.5; (note that it is decimal, 1 is 100% opacity).

There are a number of ways to get the color codes for the colors you see on your screen. I find taking a screenshot and loading an image editor like Photoshop rather cumbersome for such a simple task, so I use a program called HandyTools for Web Designer for that; specifically, it has a tool called Color Spy that gets the job done perfectly.

It's called a radical sign, hence the named character entity √ :p You can use decimal as the previous poster mentioned or hexidecimal (which I prefer): √ You can find a list of common character entities at Wikipedia.
