How can I transfer cash to my bank? It's too far to drive.
Posted 17 May 2010 - 11:38 PM
I have a bunch of cash saved up because I want to get a new phone, but I want to buy it online so I need it in my checking account.
The only problem is my bank is two hours driving away from me and I don't see myself in that area in the near future.
How can I do this easily?

Grandmom lives there and I've had the account for the 19 years I've been alive. Mom set it up.

I have no pity for you. Figure it out yourself. You've had 19 years and this is a puzzle that people have spent hundreds of years trying to make it easy enough for you to do regularly.

I'm not asking for pity. I'm asking for an answer to a simple question. If you're so much older and wiser then what is the answer?
What about something like western union? I dunno how that's set up but I do know a lot of russians use it to run scams at my local grocery mart.

Considering none of us know where you live...
I had a car & a full time job since I was 15. Before that I rode my bike 10+ miles a day to make money. Logically a coding forum, full of strangers, isn't going to have an answer for your driving/distance/phone situation. Call a friend, a family member or a taxi.

If you are asking us (again strangers) rather than the customer support of Western Union, then well, I don't have high hopes for a positive outcome for your situation. I'm sorry. Life is full of 'unpleasant' happenings. You'll either learn to deal with these things, or you'll crutch on friends & family members to figure this stuff out for you. I know it sounds harsh but goodness, it's your money, pick up the phone & call your bank. Ask them.

Ah-ha! Here's the problem. You seem to have a warped mis-conception as to how this works. Life's rough. It's not just a saying dude.

This is exactly why the only thing I'm going to do is laugh at how lazy and narcissistic (and apparently stupid) you are.
Starting now.

Would it be too much to ask that you edit your post so it doesn't stretch the page out so much horizontally? Makes it terribly annoying to read this thread.

I know, I know, who cares? I know you won't miss me.
I'm even more disappointed in no2pencil's reply, though. The fact that you are a moderator and trying to give me life lessons instead of staying out of the situation? Any website full of strangers is bound to have people from the business I'm asking about. I'm really happy you had to tell me to pick up the phone and call someone. Obviously if it was at the point where I needed it done I would do that. All I was doing was asking a question.
I'm really surprised at the responses I've received. I could have hoped for at least a little more help rather than a bunch of 30 year olds ragging on my simple question.

Just because someone is a moderator doesn't mean they can't post their opinion.
OT
Have you tried looking around at local stores for prepaid credit cards (or something similar)?
Perhaps now would be a good time to switch banks? Using a bank that is that far away is (obviously) impractical. Keeping a lot of money in cash is a bad idea...
Find a friend who could make the purchase for you and pay them with cash?
