XAMPP installed, read my PHP in browser

Posted 23 May 2010 - 06:00 PM

Hi im having a bit of an issue installing PHP. I downloaded and installed XAMMP, i even went by adobe's tutorial on it. Anyway im running on Windows 7 using FireFox as my main browser and dreamweaver to edit in...i print a simple echo command with PHP and it just wont display. what could be going wrong?

<html>
<head>
<title>Test the PHP</title>
</head>
<body>
<?php
// print output
echo "Neo: I am Neo, but my people call me The One.";
?>
</body>
</html>

i dont think its in the code itself...

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

First check Apache is running from xampp control panel.

Then you need to put your php script in document root (htdocs folder of xampp installation). Open your browser and type the address http://localhost/hello.php (if your filename is hello.php) and now you will see the output of php statements.

You can also use an IDE which will help you to organize projects and test the scripts rapidly. There are lots of choices, but you can have a look at Netbeans, which is open source & free.

This question is not related to PHP coding, it's about getting your server to answer PHP requests. Moved to Web Servers & Hosting.
