Hmmm...ok

First you have to make the "menu" a button by changing its "instance".

Then in the keyframe the "menu" button is in, right click the Button not the Frame. Goto actions and select "onclick", "Release"

Then Still in the actions screen select "GoTo" and choose the frame number you want.

now start designing the links and the acuall menu in the frame you specified it to "GoTo"

Ahhhh, sorry i dint realize u wanted a Rollover but it may be easier to do this way maybe lol.

Hope This Helps

Make a MC.
change it's instance to a button.
add this code

on(rollOver){
_root.menu.gotoAndPlay(2)
}

this is if they menu is a movieclip located on the stage. In the second frame of the menu MC put another MC that plays the line comming down.

MC = Movie Clip.

They are like mini flash movies.  You can make the animation of the line comming down in one movie clip. Put that on the second frame of another MC and then on roll over tell the MC to go to it's second frame, therefor playing the animation of the line comming down.

WOW! that is hardcore! id use it but you thought of it first ;) well, i suppose im kinda jocking off miniml.com with my current design (that no one has seen. its really rough. and rather crappy, but im workin on it)

<edit>how do i make it a mouseover again? i cant seem to get it to work - do i put an invisible button over it or something? i can make it collapse etc on a click. but thats just not coo. if you need to see what im goin for here, i can post, but im really busy.</edit>

<edit2>i went ahead and posted: http://litescript.ek...om/skrilla.html. i know its still buggy and rough, and there are a few buttons i need to change the hit-able area on, but you get the main idea. thanx :)</edit2>

If you're talking about the menu thinger I posted, you're welcome to have the source so you can create one of your own. I really don't care. :shrugs:

I'm into minimalism too and don't mind sharing.

post yer email and it's yours.

hehe thanks - i forgot to update my email on here. its now: litescript@comcast.net. since im a webdesign company, i should probably use my own ideas, but i would like to see how this works, because the smoothness and fading etc are really what im going for! thanks a lot, sem :biggrin: - btw: the concept that i posted above, is it horrible? ;)

no problem. I'll get off work in an hour or so -- I'll email it to you then.

As far as your concept, I like it. I've always been a fan of minimalism. My only suggestion is to slap that baby in a table so it stays centered in the browser :)

cool - thx :) work? where? night-shift or somewhere other than the the US? or do you just work late? ;) thx for the comments :) eko got me onto minimalism cuz, well, i dont really know why. he said try it. it seems to be all im good at. im developing it. its rough. i dont like the way the balls on the outside of the big ball move when the line moves up and 'erases' the big ball. hmm ill work on it. :) thx again :biggrin:
(wow i use smileys a lot...)

<edit>well, haha duh (sorry, but its kinda obvious) i just clicked 'publish' in flash and uploaded that puppy. i always use tables for centering ;)</edit>
