Flash Hit Testing

Posted 27 May 2002 - 01:05 PM

Ok, i've been using the hitTest() in flash to make a game for my finite independant study.  Now, what I'm asking is, is there any way to hit test an irregular object.  For example, i have a shape that isnt a rectange or square, now, flash says its being hittested when it hits the border of the clip, so the rectangular boundry of the shape but I need it just to detect it when it hits the actual shape.  Anyone here know what im talkin about??

Please help Id appreciate it.

the problem with the tutorial is that you are checking if the + is inside the boundaries what you would need to do is either create two arays and check if the boundaries overlap, or use the code for defining the shape of the object in both cases and try and compare if the borders meet at any point.  Might get very math intensive...
