Python scripts with Active Directory

Posted 15 August 2006 - 06:45 PM

I know python is good for network administration on linux but how well does it stack up in windows. I am about to take on the position of Network administrator at my company and We do not have many tools to aid in managment. An example would be creating a script that will export user information from Active Directory and place that information into an excel spreadsheet.

If python is not the best job then what would be. I need the scripting language to be compatible in both linux and windows.

Will it Integrate with Active Directory? Also just thought about this. It wouldn't integrate with Novell's eDirectory by any chance would it? Thanks for the quick reply. I plan to buy a book on python probably in the next couple of days.

These are just a few threads, but yes, python can be sued to access either, although I've never personally done it with eDirectory.
