New interface for Job management system

Posted 01 July 2010 - 03:19 AM

Hi guys,

I have re-designed my company's Job Management system and would like to get your opinion on it. The original one was 5 years old and heavily relied on tables and inline styles.

The new one is CSS driven and I have tested the validity of the XHTML and CSS and they both passed. The only use of tables in this design was for the listing of the companies.

Here is a screenshot of the old one.

and here is a link to the new one.

That newer design looks pretty decent, and it is a big improvement over your old one. I validated its XHTML, and it comes back with 4 errors, about one un-closed meta tag, and close tags for never opened tags, (see here) but the CSS passed. The design looks decent on large windscreens, which I have to complement you on. You even indent your code :P! The only thing that kinda bugs me are the vertical spaces in the table. They look kinda out of place to me. Try making them thinner, changing their color to a gray to complement the table, or just get rid of them.

Fixed the errors. A meta tag wasn't closed properly, it needed a /> to close it.

Thanks for the feedback mate.

Alignment I have to agree that it needs help, the menu and the items need to be in line, I believe it's 1px top/bottom or so to get it. I'd lighten the grays to improve readability and contrast but other than that it's not bad so far. a few subtle gradients and it'll be good to go, just do something about that logo :whistling:

What menu and items do I need to change the top/bottom on? Will change to a lighter grey. I didn't design the logo but I think it looks good.

Cheers for the feedback
