Who else is a drunk programmer

Posted 02 July 2010 - 10:50 PM

I program perfectly awesome when really drunk. I am working on being an awesome sober programmer too, but i will be "Really Drunk" and get the program done well, but sometimes, i will black out and awaken to a completely finished program. :) I just dont pay attention to variable names.

I'd hate to be the one who had to maintain anything you wrote. I think I'd kill myself

LOL at PsychoCoder.... yea, i know right? Actually, variable names are alright. :) When i drink its like the kobblers elves sneak onto my computer and make a program that works perfectly and looks very nice. Its actually quite creepy... LOL.

Been working on sober programming because most companies wouldn't let me do it via drinking. :) Need to master... must.. master.... sobriety! ;)

You probably don't care as much to type more when you're drunk.

I'm thinking of posting this crappy class for all to see..

The only real useful drug for writing code is caffeine. Anything that impedes thought process is obviously detrimental to the activity. On the rare times I do have a drink, it's with the knowledge that I won't be playing with code later in the evening.

there is a big difference between a 'nice buzz' programmer and a 'drunk' programmer.

(but the part that's the same? that's the part that needs to get out more)

I can completely agree. When I do that, that's usually when problems start.

I also agree with caffeine being useful to programming. Especially when you're working on the last function of a class and you know you can finish it if you could stay awake just a tiny bit longer.

I have pumped out working code pretty drunk. Not as good as my 2 beers or less code though.

I have never "programmed drunk" but I have been told by many people that a couple of beers can really help. The anecdotal evidence is there one just needs to do a formal study.

So this is what we need:
  • The first ever Dream.In.Code users convention (I assume there is some place in New Mexico that will work).
  • A ton of Alcohol.
  • Some programming tasks.

we will crack this study wide open and either prove that a little lubrication aids in programming or simply discover that Skyhawk WILL streak though the city at 2am wearing nothing but Supersloth's Sombrero.
