Is it me or does visual studio not displaying valid css correctly?

Posted 08 July 2010 - 07:26 PM

Ok basically i'm doing a site with css and display the page in ie6 onward and even firefox looks ok but in the design window , the elements are a mess. So can someone tell me they encounter the same problem too?

I'm definitely not new to css so i'm sure all my styles are valid.

I mean like a normal page done with div box looks ok but once I add advance styling like round corners box in my "content" div , it looks out of place but display alright across ALL browsers.

One thing I have learned over the years is to not use the ASP.Net designer when dealing with the look of an ASP.Net page. It doesn't always render it correctly.

The best thing you can do is to run the application, make your changes to the pages/css files, save your changes, then refresh the page.

I don't use the designer in VS because you never know what messy code you will generate.

IMHO you should avoid using WYSIWYG-editors and check your lay-out in real browsers or in IE :clown:

Yes I can definitely code in a good text editor (notepad++) and view in browser but the thing is i'm new to asp.net and although i can just code it in the source view, but you know adding additional functions/text box i got to use the drag and drop as i am not familar with the code of asp.net textbox.

Well at least I know that people are facing this problem too...

Problem solved :D

You can drag and drop to your code as well... This way you can choose where in the code it will be placed...
