Hello,
I'm now reading the book Beginning PHP and MySQL: From Novice to Professional, Third Edition, then I want to know what is the best cheap hosting, just to deploy my projects and host my simple site on it. My needs are FTP access, unlimited bandwidth, CGI and if possible, ssh access to administrate the server.

• 1.5 GB Disk Space
  
• 100 GB Transfer
  
• Email Addresses
  
• Sub Domains
  
• Add on Domains

To get the CGI and SSH access you'd have to pay $5 a month though.

But the problem with 000webhost is that you need to wait until you're account is approved, to get access to the CPanel.

You can get a package at ASPnix that offers both ASP.NET and PHP for $3.77 a month

This is true but I've made multiple sites with them for experiments and such and the most it's ever taken was 2-3 minutes. Then you have complete access to everything.

Try this one http://www.zymic.com/free-web-hosting/. I used them once before and they're alright, not as good as 000WebHost though.

Must agree with danielair, 000WebHost is excellent, I have their paid for account, but I have used their free ones plenty of times and never had a problem.

I think http://www.heliohost.org/home/ is x10 better
You can even get a free domain name like something.com for free

I used this web hosting alot, but I needed a better service and moved to a paid one.

I believe that there are tons of web hosting providers claiming they offer the best PHP hosting services.
But it will be reasonable to choose Reputed, time-tested web host that has servers close to the target of your audience.I would recommend vpswebserver.com who are very reliable and cost effective.
