Upgrade prep

Posted 27 July 2010 - 02:19 PM

The place that i work at is doing a major system upgrade and as system admin i get to be in charge of it all, only thing is i've never done something like this before. Can anyone recommend any literature on testing methodologies that might be of use?

What specifically are you upgrading? Different software upgrades will require different techniques.

Its an ecm that is used by the entire company. Basically every document that comes in is required by law to be stored, so this system allows the storage, retrieval, editing and so on and so forth of documents, images, audio blah blah blah basically all file types. the current system is fairly crap but this new version is actually supposed to be pretty cool, integrates directly into the entire microsoft office suite and windows explorer
