Neumont University

Posted 13 September 2006 - 11:29 PM

In about roughly 25 days I will be leaving my home town in Florida to attend college in Utah, yeah I know... I ve heard it all.

They promise me in 2 Years I will get a BA in Computer Science, work hands on with big companies - Ive seen shows, ads and it all seems true.

I just wanted to know if there was anyone that has been there, knew some one, or well been to college for Computer Science, is it really worth it? Is two years the best way to do it?

Just make sure they don't print your degree on a cracker.

yeah a CS bach degree at the U of M averages about 5 for devoted people, 6 for normals, and 4 for the freaks. i'm taking a 4 year engineering (it's related in the hardness of work) course and i'm getting raped out of my mind with work.

No, now STFU. I'm glad mommy and daddy gave you a computer, but you're abusing the fuckin privledge mmmmk?

dhazard, my appologies for the stupidity in this thread.

There are places like University of Phoenix that can do a BS in 2 years, those are legit... I imagine Neumont is something similar?!?!

I imagine it is more than possible, although the work load to compete a 4 year program in 2 years must be tremendous.

I am currently on track to complete my BS in 3 years. Unfortunetly, I don't have time for much else with the exception of DIC, of course. But it will be worth all my hard work in the end. :)

dhazard, did you make sure the skool was accredited and that it's credits trasnfer? if they do you should probably be fine as long as you can keep up with the work load (which must be out of control), but if not... watch out

Do you have to send all the course work to a PO box and did they supply you with a blank degree that you fill in yourself?

:D Only kidding!

DHaz,

I actually attend Neumont now. I graduate in about a year. The program will have taken me a little over two years (thanks to some transfer credits from Penn St.).
Be prepared to have no life, seriously. Class everyday from 8am to 4pm non stop (one lunch break). The classes are loaded and require alot of out of class work. I had to quit a part time job just to keep up. I miss the free time at Penn St. and having a social life.
On the other hand I'm blown away with the program/bootcamp. I feel completely confident in my ability and have no worries about finding a job. I've actually been offered a few jobs from recruiters with companies like Novel and Fidelity. Neumont has been pretty good about getting me certified. I now have My MCPD and DB2 certifications. Not bad for a slacker.

ps. It's so damn cold here in the winter but the chicks are hot
