unloading an mc

Posted 27 September 2001 - 01:56 PM

Hello!
I have a small problem...
If any one could help out I would be very thankfull.
OK!!
The deal is this.
On my main page I have a number of simple buttons which when passed over by the mouse trigger a simple litle mc,
and when the mouse goes off the button it tells the mc to go to label roll out....never mind the names.
But as soon as I press the button I expect the litle mc on my main page to stop. How do I stop it from playing into my 2nd page??
Its probably very simple...
All help is appreciated
thanks

add another action to the button. i assume you have the button rigged to play the MC when it's rolled over, so just add a command for the MC to go to and stop on a blank keyframe when the button is clicked.

OK!
My simple code looks like this...
On roll out the the frame returns to the first frame and stops but there is still the same problem
************************************************************

on (press) {
   tellTarget ("_root.contents") {
       gotoAndPlay ("rollin1");
   }
}
on (release) {
   stop ();
}
on (rollOver) {
   tellTarget ("_root.One") {
       gotoAndPlay ("roll in");
   }
}
on (rollOut) {
   tellTarget ("_root.One") {
       gotoAndPlay ("roll out");
   }
}

(Just had to get the smiles out of your code. Next time uncheck the "Do you wish to enable emoticons in this post?" box before you post code. Thanks)

I'm not totally sure what your trying to do. What do you mean "How do I stop it from playing into my 2nd page"  Do you have this posted on the web so I can see what your talking about?  Are these buttons in side of a Large movie with your whold site in it, or is it navigation on an html website?

sorry for not being so clear on the topic!
I just dont know how to fix it.
If you visit www.jokerinrepose.nu
press any button(which will take you to a new page...still underconstruction!) and then you will understand what i mean.
The problem is that my onmouse over effect/movie keeps playing even though I have given it a command to stop.
I changed the code last night...so its simpler. But its still the same problem.
Your help is valued!

Ok, lemme see if I have gotten this correct.  Your little MC is the little thing that follows the mouse. I'm not really sure I know what you mean when you say you want it to stop. I went to several pages and what it is doing now seemed fine to me. (BTW, make the back button a little more prevelant).  The site seems great to me, if you would like to explain it more indepth I could take a look at it again and see if I get what you saying, but it looks fine to me so. . .
Sorry I can't help more,

All I can figure out is that  you need to add an onRelease(
Stop(with the mc's path here)
)
to your code. You just telling the movie to stop not the movie clip.
