Push/Pull from Emulator in Eclipse

Posted 16 August 2010 - 03:15 PM

Hi,

Im having some trouble pulling ANY files from my android emulators SD Card. I encounter the error:

:Failed to pull selection
:(Null)

..and thats it. Initially i thought it might be my access rights but it happens to every file i try to pull
Any ideas anyone ? Maybe even a work around ?

I'm at a critical point in development so any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmm.. also is there maybe any way to get the Gesture Builder app on a tangible phone as opposed to the Emulator ? (Just asking)

Are you using the command line or the ddms eclipse gui to pull the files? Also if your looking to debug on an actual phone take a look here: http://developer.and...ing/device.html

I'm using the eclipse interface. Not sure how to perform a pull from command line.

Oh yea I've got everything setup on my phone already for debugging. It's just that one app 'gesture builder' that creates and stores gestures on the emulators SD card that I really want, as it would make things a hell of a lot easier.

if the android sdk tools folder is in your environment variable then you can do the following from the command line:
adb pull source [destination]

if the tools folder is not in your environment variable then you can do the following:(Assuming you'r on windows)
1. go to the tools folder
2. create a file called pull.bat (you can name it whatever just as long as it has the .bat ext)
3. Right click select edit
4. Add the follow to the file and select save and double click the file.
adb pull source [destination]
pause

source being location on the emulated sdcard (Ex: /sdcard/somefile.ext)
destination being location on your machine (Ex: c:\)

You can also try restarting the tools (Eclipse)!

Eclipse can get confused. "File | Restart" Eclipse, wait the full time for resumption (wait for stuff in bottom right corner to finish) then retry your operation (the transfer). Eclipse seems susceptible to this when suspending/resuming laptop over a period of time. It sometimes also helps to restart the emulator but not it's so common.
