IE6 issues

Posted 17 August 2010 - 11:22 AM

I know you guys hate it, and you're just going to tell me to switch browsers, but in my defense, my work is forcing me to have it. Did you guys not put much support into it when we had the upgrade? I notice a few things:

  • The pop up screen mashes the name and the "replied to a conversation" together. Needs a space
  • You can still see the Google search bar through the pop up
  • I cannot do the "put attachment into post" thing. Might be work blocking the JS, but thought I should mention it jic.
  • Edit post function barely works.

There are several other things that just bug me, but I can't think of them atm.

TL;DR: Did you guys not support IE6?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Most website developers have stopped supporting IE6 now, it is the only way to get companies like your work to upgrade!

Hasn't Microsoft dropped support for IE6? Or atleast suggested people move away from it? How can a company disregard this?

It's govt. The bank was the same way. Good luck finding support for this one Neo. Um google has tons of IE6 hacks floating around, you might need to start there.

Legacy applications that won't work in newer browsers.

NeoTifa, have you tried installing Google Chrome? It might be against your local IT policy, but you should be able to do it without admin. ;)

Yea, I'm not allowed to do anything without admin. Like, I can't. Besides, that would be illigal methinks.

It seems to be common elsewhere.

Why are you here on work time anyway?

Does your employer have an AUP? Have you read it?

Is "time spent goofing off surfing the web" treated like age / gender / etc and NOT admissible when it comes to making promotion / layoff decisions?

I'm not goofing off on the web all of the time. I come here for code help, at the same time I help others, thank you very much. Also, we're allowed to do whatever during lunch breaks and such.
