Oaky say i come up with a good domain name eg :- www.abc.com

How do i know whether abc is used by some other person as a company name ? Will there be a trade mark issue ?

well you can check the whois of the domain
http://www.whois.net/
if it is owned by a company chances are it is going to be registered. If for example. say www.abc.com isn't registered by anyone it is yours for the taking when you buy it.
