Do you have any code so far to feed us with, or maybe a small amount of coins with which to hire our services? Otherwise, I'm afraid we can't help, we're not permitted to do people's homework...

We are going to need more information. Is this in WinForms? Mobile device? What type of scanner? USB? Serial?

If it's a serial barcode scanner for WinForms, then you can use the SerialPort class and use the DataReceived Event to handle incoming data.

If it's a USB scanner for WinForms, then it's simply emulates a keyboard and there is really nothing you need to do. If you give a textbox focus, then scan, you will see the data come in.

If it's something else, please give more information.

The old ones just plugged into the keyboard Ps/2 port and shared it with the keyboard....

No code needed for them.

It is. I've seen it implemented. Unfortunately, seeing it was all I did. I had nothing to do with the installation or programming of the system, so I have no idea how it worked. I just knew the scanners used WIFI.

I'm going to bet they weren't WiFi, but instead were bluetooth. Still wireless, but not WiFi.

Bluetooth scanners connect as virtual COM port devices. The handheld scanner looks like a serial port device on COM13 or whatever.

No, it was 802.11. A quick google search shows plenty of results for wifi barcode scanner. Anyway...

To the OP:
I would imagine you have some documentation or software that came with your scanners. Have a read through it, or run the software and see what you can learn.

But you're not exactly giving us much to go on here. We're not mind readers or miracle workers. Give us a make+model+software name at least.

At work I sometimes program barcode scanners. It connects through WiFi to the network. Then I just make socket connections, just like two computers. The manufacturer (Symbol) had development tools on their website. They had a WinForm control to access the scanner function.

THIS is the key, and I don't understand why we get so many of these questions. If you've got a piece of hardware with which you need to work, why wouldn't the FIRST place you go for help be the manufacturer of the hardware with which you're attempting to interface?

Their development tools don't hold hands. It shows you how to access one function per sample without comments. A programmer has to decipher what is happening and use it for their own use.

The answer is in the original question:

The O.P. wants *help* with writing the entire program to do this. They want someone to write the program, then write a tutorial based on that, teaching them how to code and how to code for their scanner.

The O.P. probably went to the manufacturer site and got the SDK but doesn't understand any of it. At best they have written "Hello World" and dragged a lot of controls from the toolbox to a form, so they thought they are ready to conquer the programming world. Then took on a cyber contract to write a program and went "oh sh!t. I have no idea"
