Rather surprised no one's opened this can of worms yet. A few blocks counts as on the site whenever it's literally the closest possible location they can build.
What do you think of the proposed Mosque on ground zero?
Personally I think it's insulting, degrading, and a way of showing our president has no spine to say no to much of anything. I'll just come out and say it, our president is a naive coward and I have no intention of taking it back. How many terrorists have we coddled now?

Im guessing you're one of those people who lumps everyone into one boat because a few are bad right? Wake up, its a fucking mosque, everyone needs to get over it. I'm not condoning we coddle terrorists and am a big anti-terrorist supporter. It's a mosque, not a fucking jihad training camp.

I don't have a problem with building a mosque close to ground zero. To object is nothing but discrimination.
Protip: not all islamic people all terrorists.

I haven't really followed this topic. Can somebody please tell me the main argument against building the mosque? I mean, I know there are many irrational people in America that associate the act of 9/11 with Islam, even though the religion itself has absolutely nothing to do with what those terrorists have done (whatever their excuses may be), but I doubt that's a real argument.
So, a person wants to build a place of worship on a private property. Is there some legal issue at hand?

Not as far as I know, Nikitin. Though I'm a bit behind on keeping up with it myself. People are just being...well.. people(sadly). Sethro117 and Locke said it all. These specific people didn't do anything wrong themselves, and they have the right to build what they want there, or where ever else. People are just granting the terrorists another victory, getting paranoid beyond whats needed, people who will go of the handle at -and in some cases even things related to- the religion that the people involved chose to follow or hide behind.

If we allow their actions to dictate our preferences, even towards them, then they have won. This shouldn't be an issue.

How the hell did you link mosque to terrorism ?

Because terrorism is unfortunately a very real aspect of Islam, if only the most modern face of something that has existed the whole time.

I think thinking illogically should be classified as a psychiatric disorder. This is the only way out.

Damnit, I'm that guy again.
Does it mean you're inhuman or less than human or something to be feared if you're muslim? No. Am I saying that anybody else is any better? No, absolutely not. Somebody posted a video of the same kind of shit going from 'aMAYERiKANZ' to 'MOOOOZ-Limz' last week. My whole point in this is that all religions suck, but whether they suck or not should not matter or be used as a criteria or method for judging people. Do you really think I'd support building a mosque close to ground zero if I thought any other way?

This has been all over the New York local news, which I honestly pretty much ignore. That it's an issue at all is rather embarrassing.
Would I have a problem with some pro terrorist propaganda organization setting up shop at Ground Zero? Sure. A mosque, contrary to some misguided perceptions, is not the same thing. It's a church, perhaps not a dead guy on a stick church, but one just the same.
I have more of a problem with a group not being able to conduct religious services without government interference. It's America, freedom of religion doesn't mean just for yours.

It's still an insult to put it where they want it. At the end of the day, if 9/11 hadn't happened, they wouldn't want it there. They're doing it as a statement and it's pathetic.

The statement that resounds the loudest <or should> is that "terrorism sucks". I'm perfectly fine with them making a statement as long as that's what people hear.
Terrorists are the worst missionaries ever.
