ActionScript

Posted 03 August 2001 - 10:46 PM

Doesn't anyone do anything with ActionScript, this is such a dead forum and yet I'm learning that ActionScripting can be very fun...I'm working on a halfway serious site and i'm using ActionScript in it...

hmmm...I have a site that I'm currently working on but I don't want to reviel it until it's closer to being done, but it does have some simple ActionScripting in it, so maybe in a few days I can talk about what I'm doing.  :)

Well, you can check out something I was messing with a couple months ago. Some guy on the were-here math forums has these nifty 3D tutorials but he bases all his examples on Flash 5....it's pretty kewl, check it out at http://www20.brinkst...s/mathindex.htm . Anyway, one of the examples he gives is a cube that is in 3D that you can rotate. Well, he does it in a very procedural way..ugly, nasty, unusable. Soooo, I got it in me some time ago to redo his code in an Obejct Oriented format and add translation so that the cube now moves left right up down as well as rotates. This is my unfinished product http://www.they-say....Flash/test2.swf  and this is the FLA http://www.they-say....Flash/test2.fla . Its really really really beta, but you can feel free to mess around with it (so long as you post your improvments, of course ;-) .

i taught myself flash and the as i just didnt understand at all. so this is what i did, and continue to do cause i just started. i asked fk and they said it was okay, so i took all of their tutorials and printed them out. then i labeled a table of contents and put them in my binder. its a whole lot simpler than pulling up the site and i added examples wherever i could and so its very very easy to open it up while im working and take a quick glance. i recommend it for all you guys just starting out like i am cause it gets complicated but the tutorials are great.

I love actionscripts.org. it's a great site. It's always good to try and think up a large project where you can have a number of people contributing (like on the ultrashock.com intro) it would get more people interested.
