There was a book written by Herbert Schildt, which was covering all this.
Now, I have to admit that I do not own this book yet but I did manage to touch it and read a few chapters
). There is a lot of information and examples in it. (also regarding basic programming and multithread programming)
It is maybe worth a shot for you
