What are your good job interview experiences or bad job interview experiences.

Over the years I have been in more job interviews than I care to remember, from both sides of the desk.

When I was looking for a job my best experiences were in interviews where the interviewer made me feel comfortable and needed.

Companies lose a lot of very good people when they let just anyone do the interviews. Just because a person is a boss does not mean they know how to interview. Most bosses make terrible interviewers. Bosses always look for someone who will fit in with the current staff and not disrupt group activities; when sometimes they need a firecracker and are afraid they do not have the management skills to supervise one.

I started to laugh when she answered the phone. That was great.

Of course you shouldn't take the advices too literally. If you think something works better for the job you are getting an interview for you should naturally go for that.
If for example you know that people normally wears jeans and t-shirts then I would go for that, if people normally wear suits I would go for that. (This should be taken with a grain of salt as well)

Preparation increases the likelihood of acing an interview. That is one thing you can do. Study the employer. Find standard/common interview questions and reflect over them. You can perhaps write down answer as well as possible discussions. Don't take it with you, it's more to help make your thoughts more concrete. This helps should the nerves get to you.

I had an interesting job interview experience once. One of the interviewers asked me to tell a joke. Taken aback I told a perverted joke. I got the job so that was nice, but it still was a memorable experience.

It's things like this that leave me scratching my head all the time. The idea people need this level of training on the matter. I'm an anti-social prick who: yells a lot, randomly wants to punch people, arrogant, argumentative, insensitive, blunt, "cold-hearted", says inappropriate jokes all the time, and has a hard time recognizing standard social norms or remembering names. Yet all this crap is a huge "DOY!" in my book...

Who are these dolts and why do they need this remedial level of interview training? Was this designed for 10 year-olds?

I noticed it was from 2010, but obviously this is a very valid topic for discussion but apparently was ignored previously. However, LOD has it right...it's sort of a "DOY" thing too.
