Please review my latest website

Posted 18 September 2010 - 06:07 AM

Hi guys,

My client has given me another website to do and again he has given it to me to complete in a very short timeframe. Due to the tight timeframe, I wasn't able to do mockups so I decided on just doing what he likes the most, big and bold titles and bullet points. Personally, I know I can do a lot better than this with more time but hey, your going to do what your client wants aren't you?

Anyway, here's the link and let me know what you think of it. This is also the first time I have used some Javascript, which can be seen on the gallery page.

You could do a lot better SEO-wise.

I would take "San Diego Tint Company" out of the header image and put it in HTML text.

I would take the bullets on the home page out of an image and put them in HTML.

I didn't see one image that took advantage of the alt text. I saw things like "img1". This is useless from a usability standpoint and a SEO standpoint. The header image, the bullets image, and every image should take advantage of the alt text. Show users who do not load images what the image is and feed some keywords to the search engines here.

I can tell you care about SEO because you utilized the keywords and description meta tags and because you put a lot keywords in your title tag. Follow my instructions above and it will be even better.

Funny you should mention the SEO as my client is an SEO expert who outsources his web design work to me. I do have a H1 tag with the keyword in it, it's just above the content box. I decided against using text for the bullets as my client likes big, bold fonts and effects so I had to settle for a graphic. If it was my website I would have utilised the ALT tags but I wasn't instructed to do so, so I left it.
