Load Kernel From Bootloader

Posted 24 September 2010 - 02:55 PM

Okay, to start, please do not reply to this giving me the whole lecture saying, "Wow, you expect to write your own OS? You can't even handle basic things," or "You know that it takes a team of people years to make an operating system. You can't handle this." I really do not care, and I am still learning. So, on to business...

I have written my own bootloader and basic kernel in assembly. My problem -- which I have been snagged on for quite some time now, and I am hoping this site resolves the issue -- is this: how do I transition from the data read at address 0x7C00 (the 512-byte MBR that is loaded into memory) to a kernel that I want to be placed at 0x8000?

Any help would be appreciated. :helpsmilie:

Thanks.

As I see you opened a Thread in Assembly, I'll close this one. Please avoid duplicate posting.
