What are people watching animewise these days?

Posted 30 September 2010 - 10:19 AM

I haven't been down 'on the scene' in awhile, what are people watching these days?

I have some old school stuff subbed:

Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Bleach (i got this as it was coming out originally way back when ('06), Samurai Champloo, .hack (sign, twilight, root), Berserk, Chobits, Excel Saga, Love Hina/Love Hina Again, Battle Programmer Shirase, most of Ruroni Kenshin, most of Inuyasha, some of Naruto (uh-oh, yeah i watched this before the invasion of the narutards)

And i have been trying to get stuff on dvd as it came, but still lagging

I have on dvd SEL, Castle in the Sky, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke, record of Lodoss War, Patlabor 1 and 2, Spriggan (the basics :P)

Check out Break Blade, really cool Anime. I'm personally a huge FMA fan, as well as Full Metal Panic.

FMA was really good, I haven't seen FMA: Brotherhood but the original series really got me. I was drawing transmutation circles for weeks.

I have actually kind of started to enjoy Soul Eater lately. Not even sure why I like it that much since I'm not a big anime fan.

Never saw Soul Eater. Did you ever watch Zoids? Haha I used to love that one when I was younger. Even had the toys.

FMA and FMA: Brotherhood are the same Manga, just told again. I loved the original FMA ( definitely on a top short list ), though I think I liked the Brotherhood version even better.

Last Exile, like so much anime, is quite good until the last few. Stop about four from the end and it's excellent. I'd say the same of Wolf's Rain.

I'm rather fond of the more intelligent supernatural stuff. I think Mushishi is probably one of my favorites. Along the same lines, Natsume Yuujinchou and even XXXHOLiC. The ghost hunter archetype shows up frequently in anime. There's a lot of really crappy monster of the week stuff in this category. You have been warned.

There are a ton of anime fan sites. I found www.anime-planet.com useful in looking for new stuff. Unfortunately, some of the stuff that's ranked most popular can be pretty miserable; masses are fickle.
