The part about not overriding act() came from the presenters at the AP Review Sessions for AP CS. It's really easier just to override a couple of the helper methods rather than start from scratch by overriding act().

We just used super.act() and then did what we wanted....

I've learned more about OOP from decompiling minecraft, then I have from gridworld at all.

I felt that I didn't really get anything out of GridWorld. However, to be fair, we only studied it in the final couple weeks before the AP exam and I did get the feeling that there was stuff about it we didn't cover.

That sounds exactly like me. There is a lot of stuff on the exam that I had never heard of, let alone seen before.
