I am going to run a SQL query at the end of each month on the tutorials and snippets submitted after the first of that month. The query will pull 1 random record, whoever submitted that tutorial or snippet is the winner that month.
So, yes, the more you submit, the more chances you technically have since it increases your odds of being drawn.

Cool. I have a 512 MB Thumb Drive. But a 1 GB sounds graet. Im learning a lot of good stuff in my engineering math. I could write a dozen of programs using algorithms I learn. Great promo Chris!!

every month.
1 thing will be given away.
it will be given away in a random drawing based upon who submits tutorials and snippets.
it will be fantastic.

Just a quick update, I had a last minute offer made and we were able to get the Orange USB Swing Drive with black cover. These will also come with a black lanyard.
I'll update the pictures as soon as I have a new mock-up.

Well, I think this will create a mess in code snippet/tutorial area. In hope of winning, people might throw in more and more stuff without much effort or just by picking it up from other sites(which is not good).
I think you should set an upper limit on number of tutorials or snippets a person can submit and then whosoever submits >= the limit he will be qualified for contest.
Even without this contest there are tutorials and snippets which are in dire need of change or removal.
So, I am afraid how much low the quality will fall once this contest begins.

the tutorials and snippets have to be approved by admins, and they do look at them because the admins are decent fellows.
thye will know if its obviously copied and will delete the bull shite.

The Team isn't there for nothing, Xing.
If we notice any submission being made just for the sake of being eligible for this contest, we don't approve it.
Even on other days, there are plenty of tutorials that we reject because they don't fit the bill.
And you might think that some suck because they explain the basics.
I agree with you till some extent, but all amateurs who get directed from Google look for such tutorials on the web, so such tutorials are required...

The site is also in the process of putting some additional rigour around the submission of code snippets. These changes are designed to mitigate the very issues that Xing has identified. It's a work in progress.
