in a shell:

sudo apt-get install vim

What distro doesn't come with this editor?

They should all have some sort of vi installed.

but vi sucks. vim is better.

The hell it is. I always get stuck in the search with VIM. & if I needed text color coded for me, I'd just as soon still be using Visual Basic :P
