Okay, I just got my mail out of the mailbox, and I only received 2 letter, both of which pissed me off. The first one was a letter from the BMV to remind me about my birthday and the $100 I have to give them by it, and the other was a letter from my mom's city (I forgot to switch voting districts) from a local Marathon station basically saying "we are a friendly convenience store, so let us function like one. We are not Muslim, let us sell alcohol. Vote issue 19." Okay wtf? That's what I got out of it. Why? What? I dun even...

We are not Muslim, let us sell alcohol?? Oh god my homeland is going to hell. I have been watching some political ads from Canada and the stuff they are saying this time around is so wrong and ridiculous that I can't believe anyone would buy anything any politician would say. Not that Canadian politicians are any better but they do carry some ounce of respect... even if perhaps they don't deserve it from time to time.
Crazy stuff.

We have all of these signs around saying
"VOTE EMS!" in white and red. Rather annoying...

A taxi cab driver recently remarked to me that all south asians (including sikhs, hindus, etc) will deliberately avoid hotels that americans stay in now. Worldwide culture clash FTW!

Well, you tell me- would you want to stay in a hotel with a bunch of ditzy white people who would keep looking at you out of the corner of their eyes like they think you're going to explode? It's even affecting restaurants here- I'm a big fan of halal and indian food, and I'm the only white guy who's ever in my favorite pakistani restaurant here- which is an absolute tragedy because the food (both halal and a good mixture of various indian foods) is absolutely amazing.

Choscura, if I might hazard a different interpretation...
I'd suggest they'd avoid staying in the same hotels as Americans quite possibly due to the whackadoos in their midst who might like to select such a target as their next blasting range for their latest model of car bomb or some such thing.
That just sounds a lot more probable is all.

hmm.. i'm gonna have to remember that next time i go to a hotel... Actually the only time i was in a hotel with some white people was a couple of years ago... they seemed fine to me... neglecting the fact that they were only two in a crowd of about 300 locals... and they were probably gay...
